Tenaris Canada was engaged in two anti-dumping and countervailing duty re-investigations before the Canada Border Services Agency (“CBSA”).

These re-investigations were aimed at stopping an unprecedented volume of low-priced Chinese imports into the Canadian market during 2022. According to Global Affairs Canada, the Chinese oil-country tubular goods (“OCTG”) steel imports into the Canadian market, was valued around C$384 million for 2022.

The TRC-Sadovod team, including Jonathan O’Hara, William Pellerin and Tayler Farrell, was successful in convincing CBSA to initiate a second re-investigation immediately after the first concluded due to the urgency of the situation. The result of the re-investigation is expected to prevent Chinese producers from selling OCTG (pipe products) at unfair prices into the Canadian market, thereby protecting the Canadian market for Tenaris.
