Project Overview

The project formed part of a new build helicopter mover system, where dependable linear actuator performance, accurate synchronisation and fast support were all essential. The solution used IDM8-22BE linear actuators with a 450mm stroke for the lift function and IDM8-21BE linear actuators for the steering, with AS24 and AS26A controllers used to synchronise the 450mm units.

Having worked with the customer for three years, we were able to respond quickly when they needed a longer cable fitting for the application. After a quick phone call, our team arranged the required support immediately, dropped the cable off on the way to a meeting, completed the cable change within one hour, and had the unit ready for collection later that same afternoon.

Project Challenges

The application required a dependable linear actuator system capable of synchronising up to four actuators while handling the demands of a helicopter mover build. Precision was important not only for lifting capacity, but also for maintaining controlled steering and coordinated movement across the system. When an additional cable modification was needed at short notice, the challenge was to complete the change quickly without causing unnecessary delay to the customer’s project.
